Quick getting started guide

Imogen is an easy game to play although you may find yourself scratching your head to work out the puzzles at times.

Start a new game and you will find yourself as the wizard in one of the sixteen levels. Each level has several rooms to explore which you should check out as the objects contained within will yield clues to what you must do to get to the spell fragment to complete the level.

Move about using the Z and X keys and while walking push the Enter key to jump. Sometimes you may need to climb to a higher platform. If there is a rope or other object to climb you can transform in to the monkey and climb up it by holding the Spacebar. Sometimes you may need to get across a large gap or hole and for this the cat can help.

Imogen can change to the monkey or cat by selecting their icon at the top of the screen. Use the cursor keys to move the wand and press the Spacebar to activate the icon. Each time you change you will use up one point of magic. Magic is shown to the right of the icons and you start with 150 points of magic.

Loading and saving

You can save your progress in the game at any time. The disc icon on the menu allows you to save to or load from one of ten slots. When you save, the game stores the amount of magic you have left and what levels you have completed. It does not save your progress in the current level, so it is suggested that you only save at the start of a level.

Changing levels

You move on to the next level when you get the spell fragment and use it. You can also jump to other levels if you know the password. Select the ! icon to find out the password of the current level. If you know the password for other levels, select the ? icon and enter it in the box that appears and press the return key. If you have it right you will be immediately whisked away to that level.

Cursor keys left and right
to move the wand.

Spacebar to activate the
selected icon.

Characters:

Z and X to move
Imogen, the monkey
or the cat.

Enter key for the action.

Actions include:

Jumping
Using objects
Climbing

Main menu (titles):

Cursor keys Up and Down to
change the selection.

Enter key or Spacebar to select.

Esc key usually skips animated sequences or allows you to leave certain screens.

All keys can be redefined to your own choices from the options menu on the title page.
